Mars Attacks

well I was able to get out Mars attacks this week down the club.
While doing demo of the games I was able to talk Mantic and the other games they play as a result I have lined up next week a dread ball demo with a couple of the club members who where talking Blood bowl, they where talking about a league and the fun they had. So enter demo games next week and the leagues that dread ball can run.
So there could be a dread ball league next for the club?

It was a great night because even those that did not want to play Mars Attacks are now looking at other games in the range.

- So coming up at KRAGS next friday night the 26th October ,
will be Dread ball demos.

Kings of war at outpost

Well 2nd Mantic event,
while I was away down south I got a call that the players up at one of the local clubs after running there yearly Fantasy event where looking for a new direction and wanted to know if I could demo some Kings of war so I went down to there club and complete a couple of demos. during the night a few other club members already playing games wanted to know more. This means I am booked in to there club on the 4th for another demo day with them.
Great to start to get some traction with the players here in the west.

Photos from the demo day.

Kings Of War

Well one of the first events I started was a KoW paint and play league. we have been painting 200 points a month and playing some games.

Painting challenge

Krags will be starting a monthly painting challenge so this seem like a good time for players who would like to learn a new game to start with a fresh army and system.

I am starting a slow grow mantic paint challenge and learn to play Kings of War, by Mantic Games.

Kings of War is the game of mass combat between mighty armies in a fantasy world torn apart by epic conflict and legendary battles. Its fast-paced, competitive rules make the game ideal for massed battles between hundreds of troops - and with Mantic's range, it's possible to do just that without breaking the bank!

We will have to paint 200points for mantic Kings of War list each month, with the end of November we will have a how to play Kings of War tournament event.

So each month
August
September
October
November

We will raise the point by 200 points then the next month while painting the models we will play a game. To learn the fine art of Kings of War.
This leaves us having an 800 point event in November

On the completion of your months painting to 200 points you will receive a raffle ticket.
If you complete any extra painting during the month you will receive a raffle ticket for each group of two hundred points you complete.

With the first prise draws being at the 800pt event in November.

Now what models to paint we would like you to paint mantic models but you can paint whatever you like.
You may choice just to add to your Warhammer army while learning a new game to boot. You could even build a new Warhammer army using mantic minis while playing a new game system while painting.

The rules for Kings of War are on the mantic web site as a free down load I also have some copies that are available.

So get on the painting challenge and learn a new game at the same time.

So what makes Kings of War special?
The rule system is clearly written, simple and innovative. Written by Alessio Cavatore, Kings of War is an easy-to-learn fantasy battle wargame that is tactical, simple and innovative.

The rules have been fine-tuned after thousands of games and hundreds of pieces of feedback from the gaming community. It is a clearly written game for hobbyists, by hobbyists that allows you to play large-scale games with lots of miniatures easily and quickly.
It's a fantasy battle game written for both the Casual and Competitive Player. With an innovative turn sequence, a built-in tournament pack and the option to play timed games, Kings of War is a fast and simple game that naturally lends itself to competitive tournaments. It’s such a good fit, even our own tournament organizers have been able to play whilst running the event!
The Miniatures range is ever-expanding, and always affordable!
Nine armies are now available – from the horrifying Undead and brutal Ogres all the way to proud Dwarfs and zealous Basileans. Each is affordable and models are simple to put together, allowing you to get them on the gaming table quickly.
It bring a a fantasy world to life. The compelling Kings of War world has been developing for years and the hardback Rulebook contains a detailed map of the world of Mantica, as well as a history of its land and races. This rich fantasy realm is one of war and bloodshed where kingdoms clash in epic battles.

we had our first get together on the last friday in September
we play 250 point games out of the Hellfire and stone book,

these where great quick games and we played about six games each. swap armies and defender and attacker roles we all ahd a great night.

well done to all those that came down I hope to see you at the next event.

times are changing

old blog title

Well hi all
Over the past 2 years I have changed focus of the blog.
I am a terrain guy and that is staying the same,
I know have moved my terrain projects from just GW to new gaming
systems. One of the loves of the game is the hobby for me collecting and painting
minis as well as making and painting terrain for them, this is just as much
fun. I like to tell a story on the table just as much as with the models I use.
I am no golden demon or crystal brush painter but I love to play it painted. So
I am a painter to table top standard I believe in the 2 foot rule, if it looks
good from two foot away then it is done to a min standard. I then work on character
models to a better standard.
With that I have the same rule for my tables and terrain. If
you look into a gaming hall and see the table and walk over to have a look and
watch the game on it then it has done its job. The tables have to be playable
so if the terrain has to work for game play as well as looks
With being the terrain guy at the club I do a lot of the
tables and I make my own tables for fun over the coming year I am putting together
tables for other systems these are my records of what I am up to as well as
some of the tables I already have produced.
Take time to look and if you have ideas or comments do leave
them.
